     At this point, you probably have a pretty good idea of how all these nuclei are packed together within the thalamus. To check your picture of the situation against ours, look at the next four views.

 

NUCLEI of the DORSAL THALAMUS

This is an enlarged version of the brainstem. The caudate nucleus has been removed on the left, and the thalamic nuclei drawn in as they would appear, lying below the dorsal surface of the diencephalon.
