OBJECTIVES
After you have completed this module you should be able to do the following:
-----1) Draw in, on a figure like our Figure 3-5, a schematic representation of the DC-ML pathway. It should include such details as where synapses occur and where the pathway crosses the midline. It should also show the somatotopic organization of the pathway.
-----2) Identify the DC-ML pathway on "our" slides (the ones shown in our atlas of brainstem sections.) You should also be able to identify some of the major structures that lie adjacent to the pathway.
-----3) Identify, on frontal and horizontal sections through the whole hemisphere, and on drawings, the course of this pathway as it passes through the internal capsule to reach the cerebral cortex.
-----4) Draw in the pathway on sections through the spinal cord and brain as well as on the other views used in this and earlier modules.
