MODULE 11
OBJECTIVES
- - - After you have completed this module and the suggested reading you should be able to do the following:
----- - - 1) Identify the optic nerve, optic chiasm, optic tract, lateral geniculate nucleus and superior colliculus on the frontal slides of our standard series.
----- - - 2) Describe the details of the retinotopic organization of the visual radiation and the primary visual cortex.
----- - - 3) Have an understanding of such terms as bitemporal hemianopsia, right/left homonymous hemianopsia, upper/lower quadrantic defects and macular sparing.
----- - - 4) Be able to work out the kind of visual field problems shown in Blumenfeld's Figures 11.15, 11.16 and 11.17a) starting with the lesion and predicting the visual field loss or b) starting with the visual field loss and predicting the lesion.
----- - - 5) Be able to diagram the probable pathways involved in the pupillary light reflex and the accommodation reflex.
