The gracile contribution to the medial lemniscus is now almost complete, and the cuneate contributon is just begining. The cuneate fibers pile up above the gracile ones. The medial lemniscus has a vertical orientation at this point, and it almost seems as though it is squeezing past the inferior olive. Note the close relationship of the medial lemniscus to the pyramid.
